That feeling.

January 31, 2010

Do you ever get that feeling? I don’t know how to describe it. It’s  just a sense, a look, a texture. You can almost smell it. It’s an emotion, almost a sound. As if you can look past the photo and into the subject, and hear what it’s saying, what it’s feeling. I know I’m doing a horrible job of describing it, but whatever. If you’ve had that feeling then you know what I’m talking about. When ever I see a photo that gives me this “feeling” I am instantly inspired. I must go out a take photos. I must try and capture this “feeling” for myself. I took these photos today of the neighboring horses. And I’m not saying that they are amazing, or even good. But they do give me that “feeling” and I love that.

Drive by shooting.

January 31, 2010

I am guilty. I confess. I shoot my Canon out the window of my car as I drive. I often find my self, as I’m sure Perri can tell you, driving by a field, or an old barn or whatever it is that catches my eye and then scrambling for my camera. Most of the time I squeeze off a few shots and that’s all. The feeling of “I must take a photo NOW” passes and I’m fine. But every once in a while I’m left needing more. I must return. I need to take more careful aim at my target. I need not only to take a single shot. I must completely shoot the place to smithereens. Leave no angle or vantage point alive. Two days ago i was running to the post office. On the way I passed by what seamed to be a lake on the side of the road, where there should have been a field. We have had some pretty hard rain the last couple of weeks and it was most defiantly the cause of this flooding. I’m sure the driver of the car behind me was turning pale as he watched me scrable for my camera at 40 mph. Which happened to be my iPhone this time. The photo didn’t turn out and i was left with that feeling of wanting to return. So today I did and here is my favorite.

Auto inspiration

January 30, 2010

My grandpa recently bought a new car. No, it’s not what you’re thinking. Its not a 90ft Cadillac road boat with plush leather everything. And its not a gas saving, banana burning, tree hugging, echo friendly leaf blower either. Nope, it’s not anything like either of those. In fact, in this car you don’t even drive…. YOU FLY! that’s because this car is a Mercedes-Benz CLK 6.3 AMG BLACK series. A face warping, spine tingling, gut wrenching, hair curling, 500 horse power wild man of a car! yes it is all this and more. And today as I hit warp speed while zipping to sushi with my grandpa, i couldn’t help but be inspired. I’m not sure if  it was the faces of the people we passed on the way. Or the rice burners we burned as we boosted down the back byway. But whatever it was is besides the point. which is, I was inspired, and I needed to take some photos. So I did, and here is my favorite.
