I met Kevin and Allie through a friend, and ever since then I have been really looking forward to shooting their wedding. Right from the get go they were very open to whatever creative ideas I might have, and that is so is always so freeing and fun. Here are just a couple of my favorites from Kevin and Allies June fifth wedding!

The First week of May was a big week for me. With my week long trip to CA came five photo shoots and well over 2,000 photos! But probably the biggest of these was Alex and Huraka’s May 1st wedding. I met Alex while shooting one of my very first weddings! It was great to see him again, and meet his super sweet bride Huraka. Here are just few of my favorites from their wonderful day.

While Planning out my trip to LA for Alex and Haruka’s May 1st wedding, I was able to squeeze a couple of shoots. One of them being Brandon Archie and her family. This ended up being one of the biggest family groups I’ve have ever shot before. With three generations and ten people total it was a blast. We had kids running all over the place! In the end I came out with some of my very favorite family photos I’ve taken all year and my first pregnancy shots ever! Here are just a couple from the day.

While on my way home from my recent trip to LA, I had a chance to squeeze in one more photo shoot in Malibu. And I’m really glad I did! Rebeca and I had a blast as we walked her favorite trail, stop along the way at her favorite places, snapping some of my favorite shots from the trip! Rebeca is graduating this year from Law School and has already earned many honors. Here’s just a couple of my Favorites..

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of taking the Cowans family portraits. Susan and I had been trying to nail down a shoot date for some time now, and finally settled on the 8th, as it was supposed to be a sunny day. They were all troopers for bearing with the weather for an hour as it turned from sunny and brisk, to down right freezing and SNOW! Here is a little sneak peak of some of my favorites.

I take photos almost everyday, sometimes I come up with ones I just love, and other times not so much. But every once in awhile I take one that’s just interesting. I don’t know what it is about these, they’re not obviously amazing, super striking nor breathtaking. They are simply just interesting in an annoying way. I find myself looking at them and saying, “Oh, that’s kinda cool–now to the next one.” In the end, I have to go back and look at it again and again. Not for very long, Just long enough to say, “Oh that’s kinda neat, I like that one, it’s interesting.” It’s a little piece of a big picture, one that I might just love, and that would be amazing. A small piece that fits into some image, stored deep inside the creative closet of my mind. Like the fleeting memories of a fading dream–I can just see small parts and pieces–vanishing glimpses of the big picture. They seam to flash in my mind like the irritating flicker of a fluorescent light bulb. I only want to fall back asleep into the dream and see it all, the big picture. But as you know, that never works. So I’m forced to take what I have, and slowly piece it together. Staying hopeful that as I gather little bits over time, one day I will finally take the photo that’s been haunting me. Until then I’m left with this. Like I said, I don’t love it, I don’t think it’s amazing, it’s just interesting.

There is a ghetto, yes there is a ghetto in my back yard. It’s the Cat Ghetto, or “Cat-toe”. No one is quite sure when this happened, it just did. First, it was a cute little kitten that would come around every now and then, which was fine. It was very cute. Then there was two, and that was fine as well. But as the summer wore off, and it began to grow cooler out side, my grandmother’s maternal instincts began to grow as well. Soon after the formation of the “Cat Ghetto” began. It started out as just a little towel on the ground, then a small cardboard box. It now encompasses the patio. Using the table as its main structure it flows down into a tumble of blankets, boxes, towels and food dishes–not to mention the entire underside of the pool deck. It has now become a daily routine to feed them and watch them play. Here are a couple photos I snapped in the hood yesterday.

It has been awhile since Perri and I took some photos together, so yesterday we did. It was funny, I was asking her what location we should use, and we both had the same place in mind. This abandon house caught my eye when I first moved here and I have been wanting to shoot it ever since. We we’re running late and ended up just catching the last ten minutes of light so we weren’t able to spend much time, But we plan on returning.
